AOL Attainment at GIM

AoL attainment reflects how effectively an academic program is able to inculcate the desired competencies in its students. The ultimate goal of all our academic programs is to achieve high levels of competency attainment.

AOL is measured in cycles, with each cycle typically representing one complete round of evaluation for all the program’s learning goals. At GIM, we generally follow an annual AOL cycle.

AOL attainment is assessed through two complementary approaches: Direct and Indirect measurement.

Direct Measurement

In this method, students are evaluated individually based on their performance in specific assessments within designated courses. For each competency, students are rated as:

  • BE – Below Expectations

  • ME – Meets Expectations

  • EE – Exceeds Expectations

The percentage of students in each category is calculated to determine the level of attainment.

Indirect Measurement

This involves gathering feedback from external stakeholders—such as recruiters or guest faculty—regarding their perception of students' competencies. Stakeholders provide ratings using a Likert scale, and the average rating across multiple respondents serves as the indirect measure of competency attainment.

Together, direct and indirect measures provide a comprehensive picture of how well the program is enabling students to acquire the intended competencies in each measurement cycle.
